He has more than 36 years of specialist experience advising noble families, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and professional advisers on the ownership, management, and custodianship of fine art, antiques, and objects of significance. He has held senior positions across the international art market — including directorships at Christie’s, Bonhams, Phillips, and the Lisson Gallery — and has served as an adviser to the Arts Council of England. Matthew lectures widely and has developed fine art advisory functions for private banks and asset-backed lending platforms. His counsel is particularly relevant to custodians of historic houses, where collections are often inseparable from the property's fabric.
